Talking about Construct, Game development and HTML5.

If you are into HTML5 game development, you should already know Scirra‘s Construct 2.

It’s an awesome tool which allows you to create any kind of HTML5 game without entering a single line of code. I made more than twenty tutorials using Construct 2 and my first HTML5 games worDrop and Whack a Creep were created with this tool, gaining some kind of success.

worDrop was sponsored by SoftGames in 2013 while Whack a Creep was featured on Amazon Appstore in 2014.

According to the official forum thread, Scirra guys now aim to redefine what is possible with the web, and they are building Construct 3 editor for the browser. It’s true, Construct 3 will work in Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS. There’s nothing to install — it’s as simple as visiting a website with features like cloud save, remote preview, integrated WebFonts support, native-grade WebGL rendering, and much more.

This means you will finally be able to use Construct on your Mac, as long as it has a browser installed.

And if you are worried about a “internet only” tool, Construct 3 will also work offline and you can also keep your projects offline if you prefer.

Other things worth to be mentioned are a build service which will work much like other existing services: you’ll export your project, upload it to the build service, wait a moment for it to run the build, and then download the built files ready to be published on app stores. There will be IAP and ad plugins for iOS and Android, as well as building and maintaining the underlying Cordova plugins. This should minimise any difficulties with configuration or third-party libraries.

I can’t wait to get my hands on it, expect a lot of tutorials, meanwhile check the official forum.
