Talking about zNumbers game, Game development, HTML5, Javascript and Phaser.

When I first made zNumbers prototype, I wondered why Karl Barter, the author of the original game, only created 10 levels.

Harware limitations? It was first released on a Sharp Zaurus, so maybe this is the reason. Or maybe Karl decided 10 levels are enough.

Anyway, I decided to code a level generator, and it’s working quite good, I can even choose the difficulty of the level as well as its size.

Have a look at two examples:

I think the game has the potential to become something like a new Sudoku, so I am also coding a game to be released for iOS and Android, with A LOT of levels and different game modes.

And do you know what’s the most interesting thing in doing a level generator? It also works as a level solver, so it’s going to be a very interesting game.

I will release it for free, and I will also release the level generator, so you’ll see it with your own eyes.

I would like to bring this old game to a new life because it’s really a time killer and some levels, let me tell you, will remain unsolved because they are really hard. Stay tuned.
